Most television series are taking their end-of-year vacation, but there are still a few new things to check out. The highlight for this week features those kids for whom life is one long vacation, The Hills, which airs its season finale (MTV, Monday 10 PM). It has been more of the same this season, with the usual petty fights and flirtations, but a couple of recent events have been outside the norm: the departure of Whitney Port for her own series (check back next week for more on that), and the possibly phony elopement of America's favorite lumps of coal, Heidi and Spencer. The finale finds Heidi's mother entering the picture to ask what in blazes her little girl was thinking about with the sudden marriage, as well as a surprise trip sprung on Audrina by her equally vacant boyfriend. Series star Lauren Conrad won't be overshadowed, appearing in a climactic airing of grievances with Heidi. If I ask Santa to give these people lives away from the camera, any chance I get my wish?
"The Hills" (MTV, 10 p.m.) ends its fourth (!) season with a final episode and a big live event in New York. At issue is last week's Mexican wedding between the odious Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, who was apparently drunk on tequila when they went off to church there, seen in last weeks episode. They never got a license though and they deal with that in the finale, despite naysayers all around, including Heidi's mom. Lauren and Heidi finally talk as well, and Whitney heads off for a new life (and series) in New York.
The typical overkill begins with a two hour "The Hills Finale Live from NYC Pre-Show" (MTV, 8 p.m.) and is capped by "The Hills Live After Show" (MTV, 10:30 p.m.) with Canadian hosts Jessi Cruickshank and Dan Levy and a performance by the Pussycat Dolls.
Now that the season is over, I'm sure you're having Hills withdrawals already. It's time to pick up The Hills: Complete 4th Season on DVD.
The 4th season of the hills is just as good, and drama filled as the past three. In this season, Audrina moves out, spencer marries heidi, whitney moves to new york, and much much more. Overall this is a great buy! This season is a must have for fans! Oh, and make sure to watch The City!!
